96-channel automated liquid handler

µL Magic 96

Miniaturize assays without touch-off.

A high-throughput Differential Pipetting™ platform built to aspirate small volumes accurately and dispense them cleanly, contact-free—combining fine resolution and high flow in the same 96-channel head.

Built for practical automation

Nanoliter-scale control with the delivery force labs need.

Conventional low-volume systems often trade aspiration resolution for dispensing force. µL Magic 96 uses DRD’s dual-piston Differential Displacement™ architecture to address both requirements inside one compact liquid-handling core.

The result is a platform designed for miniaturized assays, dense plates, expensive reagents, and workflows where hanging drops or touch-off variability are unacceptable.

Demonstrated performance

From 96 aspirations to a complete 384-well plate.

An intuitive up/down sequence divides delivery into four plate quadrants while preserving the same low-volume aspiration and contact-free release principle.

01

Accurate small-volume aspiration

Differential motion creates fine net displacement while maintaining useful mechanical travel.

02

Contact-free delivery

High-flow operation blows the sample cleanly into the destination without touch-off.

03

Dense-plate throughput

Ninety-six channels serve four quadrants of a 384-well plate in a repeatable sequence.

04

Consistent placement

Demonstrations show microliter samples positioned at the bottom of each well after dispensing from above.

Performance statements summarize DRD demonstrations and supplied product materials. Application-specific validation is recommended.

Clean two-step workflow

Aspirate with precision. Dispense with power.

The system changes piston behavior—not the basic logic of liquid transfer—making the workflow familiar to operators and automation teams.

01
Differential mode

Aspirate accurately

Two pistons move together. The difference in their effective areas produces a much smaller net liquid displacement.

02
High-flow mode

Release completely

A piston operates independently to create the flow needed to clear the tip without touching the destination.

Differential Displacement™ inside

Two pistons can move together—or independently.

The paired pistons deliver differential resolution when they move together. Independent motion unlocks higher flow for contact-free dispensing and vigorous liquid movement.

  • Fine low-volume controlSmall effective displacement from the difference between piston diameters.
  • No hanging-drop dependencyClean delivery is designed to avoid touch-off-and-drag workarounds.
  • OEM-ready architectureThe liquid-handling core can support instrument and integrated-module pathways.
